do you know
as the soft, silk curtains slip against
your smooth shoulder and down your curved back
as the wind blows
through the open window
and your hair tangles wildly
and your hooded eyes glow like
two distinct fires against the black asphalt
of your lashes and brows
do you know that i am drowning because of the way
your lips are coaxed open by some carnal
delusions found by the goosebumps that
rise beneath my wandering fingertips
do you know that i am slowly dying
as you tilt your head back and bare your slender neck
the tanned skin that leaves me gasping for breath
because of just how lovely you are
do you know that i am paralyzed by the mere
movement of your chest as it rises up and down
with the heartbeat i listen to every night
do you know that i am irrevocably dependent
on the very thought of you staying that way;
beautiful, and achingly so
